We had a Blue's Clue's motif for Ari's second
birthday party. The plates and napkins had Blue and her friends
on them...Magenta, I think, as did the party hats...if you look
closely, you can see Periwinkle, the kitten who lives next door
to Blue, on Ari's hat. We also had a cardboard Blue as the centerpiece. |
Lisa made Ari a cake, which Aunt Julie helped decorate.
The cake was inspired by the one Lisa's mom made for her
second birthday, which had animal crackers marching around the
top of it. Lisa decided to put edible Blues around Ari's cake.

Notice Ari's shirt -- it has Blue and her best friend, Magenta,
on it! |

Ari turned herself into Blue for Halloween 2005. Mom
tried her hand at being Steve, although she couldn't find the
exact shirt (well, she could, but it was $50!) Freckles didn't
dress as a character, but she looked so cute in her Halloween
bandanna that Ari wanted her in the photo, too. |
While Steve ate dinner and watched scary movies after
taking Blue trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, Blue paid
a visit to Grand-Nan at the Summit. |

The weekend before Halloween, Steve and Blue (and
Scott, though not dressed up,was Joe, according to a child observer),
went to the Seneca Park Zoo's Spooktacular celebration. Here,
Blue takes off her head, lets her hair down and plays on the
slide in the middle of the zoo. |
The next day, Blue graced the Roselawn neighborhood
fall party an annual event (last year a pumpkin that looked like
Ari was there) -- with her presence. |

When we were eating brunch at Mykonos at Winton
Place, this young man was sitting at a table near us. Ari looked
over and said, "There's Steve!" After staring and pointing
a few times, I decided we had better go over and explain. I told
him my daughter thought he was Steve from Blue's Clues, and he
was sweet enough to play along and say that he WAS Steve! We
never got his real name, but thank you, Steve double! |

Here is the real Steve, courtesy of one of Ari's Blue's
Clues books. You can see why Ari was staring, even though the
other guy's rugby shirt was red, not green. |
I found a Wilton-brand, Blue-shaped cake pan
on eBay, along with instructions courtesy of the confectioner
extraordinaire, so I decided to tackle this for Ari's third birthday.
Frosting it took two hours, but she was thrilled with the result.

Ari getting ready to blow out her candles. I
hope she didn't wish for another one of these! Just kidding. |
Yes, after she blew out the candles, we cut
the cake and ate it! It looked pretty, but not TOO pretty to
eat. |
